Games Convention Asia 2007

Went to the GCA 2007 last week. Brought along wife and kids. Kids were having fun going to nearly each individual booth and trying out the games. I dread driving down to the town area especially Orchard Road and Suntec ... Hate the traffic and the parking! This time round, no choice. Got to check on what NYP was doing for their driving simulator. NOT! They did nothing except the decal for the car in game. Hardware was provided by, by now a friend of mine, Mr Ken Knapp supplying D-Box motion actuators for driving simulators and cinematic motion experience. They used rFactor as the software platform to extract telemetry and G-forces data to be translated into motion. Hey! Thats my R&D project man! Haizzz .... Anyway, had a good chat with Ken and we agreed to explore the opportunities of collaboration. Yeah! I was given a VIP `tour' of the equipments and stayed more than an hour at his booth. Tried the driving simulator but unfortunately I wasn't too impressed with it. Though the jolts from the bumps and undulated terrrains did well masking what were important in a driving simulator though. Well ... at the end of the day, I felt the trip was very fruitful. At least now I have a lead to begin with for my R&D project. Hopefully it's soon ... or I'll be ******* RP soon instead.
